  • Colour grading typically focuses on individual shots, allowing for precise adjustments tailored to each frame. In contrast, look development is about crafting a consistent aesthetic that can be applied across an entire project. As a result, look development tools are designed to leave the core exposure and balance largely untouched, instead enhancing the surrounding tonal and colour characteristics to unify the overall look.

  • These tools offer smoother, more intuitive control than Resolve's native options, which can lead to undesirable results if not used carefully. I designed them to allow easy manipulation without breaking the image, while ensuring key aspects remain anchored, giving you confidence to modify the parts you want to change.

  • Some of the work on my website predates the creation of these tools. However, any projects from early 2025 onward have used these tools, as they now form the core of my grading pipeline.

  • As of DaVinci Resolve 20.1, DCTLs are only supported in the Studio version of Resolve. If you're using the free version, these tools won't function.
