  • LookBank is a look-development tool that lets users create strong, bold looks quickly by mixing and matching presets across four modules—Contrast, Split, Palette, and Modifiers—each with adjustable strength sliders. It’s an ideal option for projects where speed is essential or when a simple, all-in-one solution is preferred over managing multiple fully controllable separate tools.

Because it’s fast and easy to experiment with, LookBank is great for quickly trialling ideas and building looks to see what works, which can later be refined with more detailed tools if needed. This tool will especially appeal to colourists working under tight deadlines, as well as editors and content creators who want impactful looks without investing extra time or money into complex toolsets.

  • This tool supports the following transfer curves: DaVinci Intermediate, Arri LogC3, and ACEScct.

  • Contrast | Strength: Sets the strength of the selected Contrast preset.

Split | Strength: Sets the strength of the selected Split preset.

Palette | Strength: Sets the strength of the selected Palette preset.

Contrast | Black Point: Applies a shift to the black point.

Split | Sat Mask: Modulates the effect in either low sat or high sat regions.

Palette | Sat Mix: Controls the blend of saturation types. 0 = Hybrid, Negative = Subtractive, Positive = Additive.

Saturation | Lo Sat: Modifies saturation on the low end.

Split | Preset: Ten split tone curves, each that apply unique highlight and shadow tinting for targeted tonal separation.

Contrast | Preset: Ten contrast curves, each offering a different tonal character.

Palette | Preset: Ten palette adjustments, each remapping hues in distinct ways.

Saturation | Preset: Ten saturation modifiers, each uniquely modifying the saturation curve.

Show Overlays: Enable overlays to assess the look.

Bypass Contrast: Bypass the Contrast preset.

Bypass Split: Bypass the Split preset.

Transfer Curve: The transfer curve of your timeline colour space.

  • You can essentially think of LookBank as a massive, modular bank of LUTs or looks—hence the name. While traditional LUTs are fast and efficient, they often come with a major limitation: everything is baked in, from contrast and split tone to palette and overall colour. LookBank solves this by breaking those components into separate, adjustable presets with individual strength sliders, giving you the speed of a LUT with the flexibility to tailor each element to your project.

  • Not exactly - this is a digital colour grading tool. The presets have all been built by myself and not modelled on any specific film stock. However, many of the presets have been made with filmic qualities in mind. There are split schemes with a more retro-vintage aesthetic, modifier presets with a more filmic bleach look, and contrast curves with the quality of faded film curve.

  • This fully comes down to user feedback and experience. If there is a high demand for new presets - then I will definitely consider adding more in future - as long as these new presets feel necessary and truly fill a gap in the current tool.
