Each range is fully unlinked and comes with six intuitive controls — strength, hue, weight, pivot, zip, and fork — giving you complete creative freedom. A global bi-directional saturation mask allows you to limit the effect based on colour, while smart handling under the hood keeps your adjustments smooth and consistent. Designed for flexibility and clarity, Split makes it easy to craft the perfect highlight-shadow balance for bold, polished looks.

  • This tool features a total of 13 sliders: six for highlights, six for shadows — strength, hue, weight, pivot, zip, and fork — plus a global saturation mask that modulates the entire split curve. While some of the control names may seem unconventional at first, they’ve been chosen for clarity and intuitiveness, and many will feel familiar in practice.

  • This tool is currently designed specifically for use with DaVinci Intermediate. Support for additional transfer curves may be added in future updates based on user feedback and requests.

  • Split is a look-development tool best used toward the back end of your image pipeline, such as within a post-group or timeline adjustment that affects your entire project. Since it’s designed for DaVinci Intermediate, it should be applied before your output display transform. While I wouldn’t recommend Split for shot-level grading due to its built-in restrictions, it’s perfect for building consistent project-wide looks. The exact placement of a Split scheme alongside other look-development adjustments, like Contrast or Palette-based tools, is flexible and encouraged—experimenting with their order can help you achieve the best creative results.
